Something I remember from back in the 50's was TV Lamps. For some reason the general public was encouraged to have a lap on top of the TV for our eye protection.... I don't remember all the details but I haven't seen one in use in decades now.

Women's fashions have always beenn ridiculous.
I disagree. The way the ladies dressed in the 50's(gloves, dresses, hats) was classy and sophisticated. Much better than the way people dress now. And the dresses from the Victorian era? Love those!

Attractive, okay, yeah. But not practical, useful or comfortable. I love the way women dressed in old westerns, gorgeous. But again, not healthful or practical. Heavy, dragging on the organs, too tight, restricting the breathing and digestion. Too long, dragging in the dirt, mud and manure. Imagine gardening and doing chicken chores in those.
