I'm so old I Remember when:

Canned peaches came out around the late 1800s here. If memory serves me correctly they were a smash hit with the cowboys who would carry cans of them in their saddle bags to eat when they were out doing their thing.

Funny but I think they were one of the first canned products to hit the market.
John Wayne was eating a can of peaches in Big Jake. If I recall right it was set at the turn of the century.

Bumper stickers I remember from the 60's. "Is God Dead?", The Government is getting harder and harder to support in the manner it has become accustomed too.", and I'll Give up my Gun when they pry it out of my cold dead hands." I'm sure there are more but those just stand out in my memory.

I remember when vegetable farmers took their crops like cucumbers, tomatoes, and peas (not the green round things) to the state farmers market and they got auctioned off to the high bidder. The culls where given freely to anyone who wanted to take them off of a big belt that was carrying them to a pile to be dumped in a pasture somewhere for animal feed. We got many a good cucumber. We would sit in the backyard under and oak tree and eat with a cucumber in one hand and a salt shaker in the other.
