The reason for two dollar bills is that was the betting increments at horse and dog races I think.

I read that a 14 year old kid was recently arrested for trying to pay for his school lunch with a two dollar bill. Apparently no one was aware that it was actually legal tender. Charges were later dropped.

I have some flying eagle quarters and mercury dimes.... Buffalo nickels too. Kennedy half dollars. Not parting with them. I wish half dollars would come back.

I remember in my first job, I was pay weekly by cash in an envelop. Before long, it was pay into a bank account.

Mom and I were stopped by a charity group outside a food store,they asked us for donation, mom took out a handful of coins that probably around $10, they refused to take it as they no longer use cash, they want us to give them through our bank card. Mom say no, just cash and she offered to buy the raffle tickets from them, they also can not accept cash for it. They told us to donate to them online, my mom does not have a computer.

I bought a Mexican hat at charity store for $1, when I gave them $1 coin, they told me they prefer I pay them by bank card. They want to go cashless.

I remember getting paid in cash every Friday.
I also remember as a teenager having the job of filling the envelopes with cash and handing them out for the other employees.
It is almost unbelievable now, but my job was to go on my bicycle to the bank and collect the cash. Then I bicycled back with the cash in my bicycle basket and set up a table in a passageway or outside if it wasn’t raining.
I had a schedule with names and amounts and I had to fill everyone’s envelope and take their signature on the list when they came up to my table and I handed it to them.
I am trying to remember how many staff I was paying. Maybe 60-70. Not totally sure.
I do remember I was issued with a rubber finger stall to help me count the bills easily.
Wow, haven’t thought about that for years!

It is actually illegal to not accept cash. It says right on the bill that it is for all debts, public or private. The company can have a way they "prefer" people to pay. But to not accept cash at all is illegal

I find this very hard to believe. Not saying you are lying but as a lunch lady myself, I know all forms of cash are accepted. And the responding officer would actually arrest a kid for this? Nope, don't believe the story

It is actually illegal to not accept cash. It says right on the bill that it is for all debts, public or private. The company can have a way they "prefer" people to pay. But to not accept cash at all is illegal

I did say to the charity group that stopped us asking for donation and selling raffle tickets that cash is MONEY, mom is an elderly, she is not online and she uses cash. They just apologize and insisted they do not take cash. I feel they rather not get any donation than take cash very strange way asking for help.

There are apps pop up everywhere. App for everything.

My orthodontist used to do a rewards thingy. Then they changed it so you had to get a app. I only bothered a couple times and never used it again.

I feel like that would drastically reduce the amount of donations they receive, too. Very inconvenient for people, to have to go online
