My brother and I are both blondes. I remember my mom got us black wigs (she made the costumes). I was sadly disappointed because it was kind of plastic looking hair and too fake looking.

Yes she did. My brother always went as Gene and she detailed his out like his dragon boots.

They were fun and my mom always made our costumes. She worked way too hard on them. Love her for that.
