I'm so old I Remember when:

I was in the Kiss Army and remember going trick or treating as Peter Criss a couple differnt years.
My cousin D. was a Dead Head and followed Jerry and the boys around for a few years. When she came back home she lived in an old (short) school bus she'd turned into a camper and had painted up. Aunt and Uncle let her park it in the upper cow pasture near a stand of trees.

I'm not old. but I saw a phone booth the other day. and it worked! I thought those were extinct.
In the rural county where my brother lives, there's a number of Amish families. They have one or two phone booths scattered around the community - normally sitting a couple yards off the dirt road not near anyone's house - in case there is an emergency like a house fire or accident and 911 needs calling or a doctor visit needs arranged.

Some of the elders here have cell phones

They also don't know how to write a check or understand what it's for. A couple of years ago I used one at a grocery store and the young girl at the register had no idea what I handed her. She took it and looked at it and said "what is this?" When I explained it, she said she had "never seen one before or heard of a check". oh boy. She had to call the manager over for assistance who said about 10% of their customers still write checks. I didn't so much feel old or antiquated as I felt sorry for her and all the others her age who really are 'clueless' to no fault of their own due to all the technological advances.
I forgot about the checks. And they do not know how to count back change either. If the cash register does not tell them how much to give back, they have no clue. Boggles the mind for sure.

Just saw another post about phone booths. I forgot about them too. Old age? I remember always having a dime to make a phone call and then it was 25 cents. Now they are gone. So if one does not have a cell phone, one is in trouble should something happen on the road. Britain had some lovely ones, I wonder if they are still there. I was there in 2002

In the '60s I went from 3 on the tree to 4 on the floor, decade of the "MUSCLE" cars, by the late '70s my left leg was getting tired. Truck was still stick 4 WD for work but the car was automatic. Today everything is automatic. Two things I do miss are the high beam switch on the floor and those small wing windows that funneled 50 MPH air conditioning.
I loved those wing windows. Let in air w/o the rain. My 1956 Chev was a 3 on the column and my last manual was a 4 on the floor, a Nissan Pulsar, which they no longer make. The beam switch was very handy where it was on the floor. I remember having to use hand signals, still remember how, but not we have turn signals inside which I do like. What I do not like is the backup screen. You still have to look at the sides so I consider it useless.

Most useless thing I've seen on a vehicles was automatic wipers!
