I'm so old I Remember when:

I'm so old I remember when steer feed came in 100# burlap bags. Now I'm paying the price for those bags that FFA show steers ate. Lifting them out of a car trunk and walking them to the shed was doing unseen damage at the time to my back. Fertilizer also came in 100# bags. Did the same with them. Now chicken feed comes in 50# bags and I hate lifting them. Same with fertilizer.
Same, but not for steers, horses. And for me, it's not so much my back, but my knees. I sure miss the days when I could call them "left" and "right," instead of "good" and "bad," ... "bad" and "worse!"

I buy my cat litter and chicken feed in 50# bags, but my knees are not amenable to moving the beasts. I now keep empty cat-litter tubs in my car so I can break down the bags into smaller quantities. Not only is it lighter, but I can let the rest of the stuff sit out there until my next trip or whenever DD/DS get home!

So ... there's another "I'm so old" note. I'm so old that I remember when my adult children were so small that I had to carry THEM in from the car, too.

... ((( .. {{{ sigh ... }}} ... ))) ... (followed by a tiny, sad, smile)

I switched to pine pellets for my cats litter, made a world of difference and much cheaper

Although I built a custom box that has a hole cut outthe top and the back is open and I put a large plastic tote in it. The back goes against the wall and the cats go in from the top. We had a problem with one cat that would overflow the litter off the side of a regular litter box when covering it's stuff. I put 6 scoops of pellets from a big gulp sized cup
