I'm so old I Remember when:

I should sing the Never on a Sunday song...

Oh, I can cook, wash and clean on a Monday
A Monday, a Monday is very, very good
Or I can cook, wash and clean on a Tuesday
A Tuesday, a Tuesday, in fact I wish I would
Or I can cook, wash and clean on a Wednesday
A Thursday, a Friday and Saturday is best
But never, never on a Sunday
A Sunday, a Sunday, 'cause that's my day of rest
Most any day I can be my best
Any day I say, but my day of rest
This song reminds me of another from that era, Que Sera, Sera.
Whatever will be, will be.
The future's not ours to see,
Que sera, sera.

I can read and write in cursive. I remember being taught cursive in the 3rd grade. We got report cards to take home to our parents every 6 weeks. I might be old but I remember my mom's reaction to that first report card when I got a D+ in "Hand Writing". Everything else was an A. What is funny now is remembering that my teacher then had taught my mom in school and I know mom's hand writing (cursive) looked like chicken scratching.

Anyone done this?
I might try a document just for fun.
Have you seen any of the documents?

I've been tracing my family tree for several years.
Some of the people back then really took pride in their handwriting. Some of the most beautiful script I've seen.
Some documents can be difficult to read due to poor writing skills, spelling, or faded by time.

It's a shame there are so many now who can not read cursive.

I homeschooled my grandson K-8. I started cursive with him in 3rd grade just like I did.

When my granddaughter came to live with me, she was about to turn 11 and going into 5th grade. She'd been in several schools and in foster homes most of her life. She asked me to teach her to write in cursive as she'd never been in a school that taught it. She writes beautifully now, as an adult. I don't think I can take credit for that, though. I also taught her younger brother and his writing is practically illegible. 🙄
