I'm so old I Remember when:

My mom had swing on those heavy 78s - Benny Goodman, Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller....
We have a 78 player and many of those stated artists. Some of the records are little warped, but the player still sounds 'good' for the age and what it is. I'm old but not THAT old, it was a family gift.

I'm old enough to remember affordable housing in soCal. My parents had a custom built, brand new 4B/2B home, minutes from the beach, large lot, excellent schools, 1970: $109K.
Back in 1970, $109K was not affordable for most people.

Back in 1970, $109K was not affordable for most people.

According to this inflation calculator, that would be about $870K today. Trulia (I know they inflate prices) has it at $2.5MIL. That is probably not affordable for many but it's typical for the area.

Ever notice how the potential side effects listed on the ever present drug commercials are nearly as bad,or worse, then what the dope is intended to help? And, how are you suppose to know you’re allergic to it without taking the drug first? AND, why do antidepressants have a potential side effect of depression???

Location, location, location! My parents bought their 2 bedroom/1 bath house on a 60'x100' lot in the suburbs of NYC in 1971 for $30,000. It was one of the cheapest around.
$71,900 in ‘92 for a 1456 sq.ft. rancher in the county with three BR and two bath on 1.25 acres, with great well water. Current plan is to die here.
