I'm still shaking, WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES

So sorry for your losses. At least the neighbors are taking responsibility for the dogs' actions and getting rid of dogs they realize they have no control over. It's still too bad about your birds, though.

I'm sorry for your loss

if you can get about $10 per chicken you should be able to find chickens that are just starting to lay for that price. I am hoping that while it doesn't save your chickens it should at least help you to be right where you left off ( and not all the way back to start). So sorry.

edit* p.s. it really is not the dogs fault but the owners. I wonder if the dog is a trouble animal? because putting it down is kind of extreme for most people who own a dog as a pet.

there is no wolf in that dog, its a malamute. Really sorry they got in there and got your pullets...that just sucks! at least the neighbor is willing to pay for them. Sad the dogs will be killed but they will be back again if not taken care of

Sorry for your loss. I have had the same thing happen to me. That type dog is one of my neighbors breed of choice and they are very determined and silent predators.

It is a beautiful dog and it is such a shame that some dog owners just refuse to keep their pets under control. Frankly, I am sick of shooting dogs that could be good pets if the owner kept them home

ETA: I would get something in writing, from your neighbor, asap. It is my experience that the offending party is willing to offer up the moon right up until time to haul out the checkbook. Then it becomes 'it was just chickens".

definitely sad that the dogs will be put down

they saw prey and went after it, just like their instincts told them to do. The owners should have been better at training the dogs and keeping them out of other people's property. Sad that the dogs will pay for the owner's mistake...

Maybe suggest they give the dogs up to a local rescue center. They could be rehomed to someone that knows how to care for and control dogs like that.

I'm trying to put her in touch with someone that wants dogs like that.
I just talked to her and she said she crossbred huskies and malamutes, animal control just came to pick two of her dogs up and said that people were looking for some like that and will probably be able to adopt them out. And she is planning on finding homes for the others. I think she has about 5 more.
She is also supposed to be bringing cash later today.
I was wanting to hatch some eggs but didn't have room for more birds but sadly I do now.

You can send them to the malamute rescue site, There is probably a state or local mal rescue that could take them. especially if the owner said they are livestock killers and will be put down if rescue does not accept them. its worth a try. Malamutes and huskies have a very high prey drive.

Ok, sorry but this is really sad, the dogs whether, huskies, mals or wolf hybrids HUNT that is what they do. They are bred to survive and go find their own food.

The owner should be put down and the dogs sent to a rescue that knows how to deal with these breeds! I bred Mals for 15 yrs and worked with hybrid rescues! I chose after my older dogs passed to not continue because I wanted livestock!!!!!

They do no go hand in hand! While the dogs should not have been on your property, your neighbor down the road will want more dogs! You need to file a complaint, so that the neighbor will learn their lesson.

OK, sorry to get on my soap box!! I really am. But gosh, Humans just frustate me sometimes! (I worked animal control for a few years, couldn't deal with the human aspect most of the time)
