I'm still shaking, WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES

The neighbor lady just came over to tell me she's having them put down. I was afraid they would be over every day now that they had a taste.
And she's going to pay for the birds.
That's not really the point though. Raising from chicks and then about to start laying.

I understand your fear of future attacks, However I don't agree with putting dogs down for being dogs. They obviously were not raised around chickens are are of a hunting breed. So why are they being put down for being what they are. It is not their fault it is obviously the humans lack of control over the pets. People need to take responsibility before their pets get into trouble not punish the animal for their own lack of responsibility!

I feel very passionate about this and I know I will get people upset with me. But This is how I feel and can't help it.

I am in 100% agreement with you. They are Awesome dogs if in the right hands and the wolf hybrids...well I have had 2 and they were the best dogs ever.... I wish more ppl. would realize they aren't wolves, but they have lots of wolf in them and raise accordinly. It's like having a Pit Bull around babies and saying oh it will not hurt it and then months later they are having the dog put down. PPL. are not always responsible! End of the line.

Just wanted to add people should do a little research on the animal they are getting before they get them to understand how to prepare for the animal behavior and care.

Also I didn't see anywhere have they been put down or can they be saved yet? Please give these creatures the repreaval they so very much deserve!

I completely agree with you. She has crossbred Siberian Huskys and Alaskan Malamutes and she has a lot of them.
She knows she can't control them. Our side of the road is semi rural, (she's the closest neighbor on that side of me at a quarter mile away).
Across the road are subdivisions and sometimes I see her chasing them through the subdivision when they get out.
Animal control said they have people looking for dogs like that so they may be rehomed. Probably somebody looking for a dog to chain in a junkyard. (I hope not)

I often get on my soapbox about domestic cats too. IMO they are an invasive species that belong inside the home. They get well fed and get turned out to unfairly compete with native predators for a limited supply of prey. The same goes for the dogs. I know they are well fed but it's what they do. Dogs and cats kill for the fun of it, not cause they need to.
A different neighbor has a cat I can't keep out of my garden. I've seen it killing the lizards, toads and frogs that are out there controlling insects. When it gets tired of that game it turns it's attention to rabbits and songbirds.

First of all, I want to say that I'm really sorry for your loss!

Second, I want to say that I hate owners who:
1) Can't (actually won't) keep their dogs locked up.
2) Get dogs without doing any research on the breed.
3) Don't train the dogs to either stay home or be nice.
4) Leave the dogs outside (unattended) to run wherever they please. This usually happens with "outside" dogs.
5) and finally, won't do anything about it when their dogs do attack something!

Last summer we had a couple of huskies around the yard... A male and a female. We saw them before they got any of the chickens but they were DEFINITELY stalking them! We got a hold on them and called animal control who said that these dogs had been running all day and they had gotten multiple calls about them. One call was from a daycare center who was afraid of the dogs and hustled all of the children inside! We observed that the female was severely pregnant and could deliver any day! We found out later that the dogs had gotten out of the man's yard who owned them, while he was at work! They had gone a mile and a half in just a few hours! UGH!

Sorry to hear about the loss!

However, to have those dogs destroyed makes me very upset. I'm not saying you can't protect your flock. I have chickens that I let free range with supervision only because the neighbor lets his cocker spaniels roam. I keep them at bay with a BB gun and my size 11 rocky mtns. I have a Vizsla as a hunting dog who would love nothing more then to chase the chickens. I spent over a year training my dog to obey verbal commands and hand signals. My Vizsla has jumped into the chickens run and lays down just to watch them. She'll crawl on her belly to get closer to them. She never attempts to chase or grab one of our chickens. She has hunt/chase in her blood. With that being said when I grab my shotgun that switch turns on and she knows it's her time.

Point of my story: DON'T OWN A DOG UNLESS YOU PLAN ON TRAINING IT! I'm so sick of seeing dogs not properly trained.

Just had to rant! I get upset when I hear people "destroying" dogs because of bad behavior. Well maybe they should starting fining people for being stupid!

I wish I had come to senses and clip all their wings sooner, I just did that right now cause I can't stand the heartbreak of loosing another one of my girls
