Just gave her a few drops of nutri drench as I think she needs something. She regurgitated previous liquid supplement I gave her. It was heartwrenching.

I’m planning to stay up and give her a few drops of it every couple of hours. I know soon she’ll flap her tiny wings to say goodbye but I also want her to know I’m there for her.

I just wish she could stay!

Me, too....

Just want to let you know my precious chick passed away and I’m hoping to give a details of her last hours to shed lights for others who may find it useful .

She was eating happily when I gave her some cooked eggs and dried meal worms before bedtime, the day before. I had hope she’d pull it through with the Corid and Valbazen.

In the morning, she acted lethargic again and not eating, drinking. I syringed her some water and offered her cooked eggs, she didn’t even peck. Panic mode kicked in and I took her to the local vet. I had to do a curb side check in and left her at the vet’s office.

Around noon, vet called letting me know she looked very dehydrated and gave her fluid (this is important). Vet said she’d like to keep her there to monitor and I said that’s fine. Fecal test sent but probably won’t get the results until tomorrow. That’s understandable ....

Vet’s office called around 1 and asked me to come and pick her up around 4:30. I asked...does that mean the vet it’s ok to have her home already? Response was yes.

I picked her up and she had her eyes completely shut, no chirping sound, no movement, no nothing for the rest of the drive home. I called but vet left for the day. Spoke to the technician who helped the vet. I asked to walk me through what happened after I dropped her off. The technician took a good 10 minutes to get to the file.

Turned out, the vet asked the tec to inject fluid on her right thigh because vet thought it was a good idea to rapidly provide fluid to her when she was already lethargic.
That injection was the lethal injection that sent my precious chick to the state of paralyze and completely destroy her weak system. She was not moving, not opening her eyes from 2-3 pm (still at the vet) until her passing was around noon the next day.

I am sick thinking about it.

I just wish the vet would have inform me clearly that she was going to do an injection to a frail chick before she was going to do it. At least my common sense would have kicked in then, and asked why she thought that was a good idea. I mean, why couldn’t they just syringe her????

My chick came from an abuse and neglected feed store, she had parasites and very likely Cocci in addition and I don’t know what else, but when my hubaby picked her up from the feed store, she smelled pure urine, covered in droppings. Her eyes tell me she had not been a happy chick. She was living in a horrible condition. Then I, unknowingly, sent her to the worse possible death for a chick that’s already suffering enough.

I paid over $200 for the vet bill and I’ve never felt so angry.
