Thanks for the reply and the info! I have a lot to consider, and for now, I think I'll continue adding cooked eggs to their feed every so often.

I would also look at any food your family might throw out, when cooking or after a meal, and give the chickens any high-protein scraps you find (meat, fish, beans, eggs, cheese).
