I'm massaging her every hour and I do believe the lump is dissolving!!!! I HOPE so.

CocaCola?! The stupid stuff on the internet amazes. That would be like putting Draino down a chicken. The stuff cleans toilets, for crying out loud.

Maggots to eat the crop contents like so many little PacMan icons is wishful thinking at best. The maggots would be rendered as inert crop content in a matter of a very short time. Food. Nothing more.

The hen with the massive crop blockage would have needed to have crop surgery in order to clear the blockage. I've guided determined chicken care givers through the process with good outcomes. But it requires a steady resolve and not a little courage and confidence.

This present case should clear eventually with a series of oil and massage. It would likely take most of the day with marathon doses of oil and massage every hour, slowly breaking up the clog and getting the crop the gradually empty.

I find that coconut oil is easiest to use. A heaping teaspoon of the slightly chilled oil at a time is what I use, following by massage to disperse the oil and to break up the mass. Little by little, you should be able to feel the contents break up and go down.

Hi I got a lot of help from you in regards to sour crop in my hen, she did the full dose of the anti fungal cream (against her will) her crop went right done which is good, now though she is so thin she doesn't seem to have an appetite for her layers feed, she pecked a couple of time at some mushed apple and Greek yogurt, she just wants to roam around the garden, I don't let them out straight away as I'm trying to encourage her to eat her layers pellets, I can only feel a very small mass in her crop and I managed to give her a teaspoon of coconut oil as I'm concerned she might not be digesting whatever she is eating, her bottom is still quite messy, I'm washing her every couple of days still, is this normal for her to take a while to get back to normal?

"Normally", a sour crop victim will bounce right back after seven days on the yeast med, but if the sour crop was set off by a more serious underlying issue, such as a chronic infection or tumors, the yeast condition can persist. You can continue to treat the yeast with miconazole for a while longer, but a compromised immune system may not permit complete recovery.

Hi there, I was wondering as she still has a messy bottom and it smells as to now weather she has got vent gleet? I originally treated her for vent gleet as that was how it started, she had a messy bum that smelt sour, she then got the sour crop which I treated with feeding her the anti fungal cream and that seemed to clear up but she still has a messy bum, the poo is gooey, green in colour and smells sour again?

We actually use cola down blocked feeding tubes in children. Also meat tenderizer in water and pancrease are other options. It is better than surgery or replacing a tube. Pretty sure cola won’t kill a chicken in small amounts. They eat all sorts of nasty stuff off the ground.

Interesting, though the sugar in cola might not be good if there is yeast active in the chicken as sugar would feed it.

Candida yeast can start in one part of the body and spread throughout the digestive tract, one end to the other. Yeast in a crop is contained and easy to treat for the most part. But when it spreads down into the rest of the tract, it gets to be a huge challenge. Medistatin, the animal form of Nystatin, is given in food and can help treat these systemic yeast infections. https://www.jedds.com/shop/medistatin/ You need to be patient as it can take much longer to treat than just a sour crop.

And as I mentioned, some yeast infections are not treatable when the underlying cause is a serious organic disease such as cancer that is shutting down the organs.
