Impacted crop

Well we did the crop surgery and pulled out a bunch of mess. There was no way that would of come out any other way. We just finished a few mins ago. She’s still not back to herself. Really hoping I’ll see an improvement tomorrow and that we didn’t wait to late to do it.

Great job!! Now treat her post op. Give her sugar and electrolytes in her water to counter any incipient shock and to give her blood glucose a boost. This should help her regain her strength and encourage an interest in food. Soft foods only for a week.

Keep an eye on the incision for infection. Sometimes an oral antibiotic is necessary if you see redness and swelling at the incision site. Tractor Supply often carries amoxicillin.

Thank you, I’ve already put electrolytes in her water. She didn’t really show much interest in water afterwards and was really tired so we put her up for the night since it was late. She did pick at some baby food. I’m going to give her the monistate in the morning and see how she feels from there.

I do have amoxicillin on hand so that’s good to know it can be used. Her site looks good, my husband said he would of rather of had sutures to close her up but it looks like the glue did a decent job.

Good job! Now hopefully she will feel better, I'm sure she will!

This morning she is still with us. Still hunched over and acting like she don’t feel good. I have her the miconazole. A little bit after giving it fluids started coming out of her beak again, assuming from the sour crop. She did drink some of her sugar water with electrolytes this morning but still not eating much food. She did poop this morning so I don’t think she has a blockage further down.

My husband is off work today and home with her. Hopefully she just needs some time. It’s been a lot on her the past couple weeks.
