My baby chick is close to 3 weeks old. I noticed today that her right side on her chest area was swollen. I picked her up and felt it. It's not hard. I can almost feel the feed she eats in there. Is this just her crop being full or could this be and impacted crop? I am fairly new to the chicken world. I have been a little overly paranoid. Is this something I should just watch, or something that needs attention. Any help would be appreciated. Also, she is still eating and drinking and just as active as all over the chicks. She's also still having regular poops. :)

if it has a water balloon feel to it and it dosent go down overnight then it could be sour crop...look up a thread about the bottom of the page on here and see if that matches what you are seeing...I am getting ready to treat a hen with Monistat because of sour crop that she has.

That's the thing I can't figure out. It's not squishy like a water balloon. I can actually feel the small pieces of food. The only thing I know to compare it to is like when a hamster stores food in its cheeks and you can feel all the food in there...

That sounds like it is likely just a normal crop. If you are worried, withhold food overnight and check on them in the morning. It should be empty. But, a crop that feels like food is generally just normal eating.

Thank You! :) being a new chicken mom it's hard for me not to worry when something is different.
