In case you every wondered...what a difference my robot has made!!!

wegotchickens. It is really good on dust bunnies. I just have the sweeper model and it picks up even sand, tiny eyelash size doberman hairs etc.. with the brushes. Also, it really shouldn't go down your stairs to the basement because it stops when it reaches a ledge. If you want to be safe you can get a virtual wall which is like a tiny speaker looking box that sends an invisible beam across the room to another wall. Maybe Hubby just likes vacuuming? My Dad said if he got one he would have nothing to do.
I walk around in my bare feet in the house and I am always feeling for grit etc... it might have missed. I don't see anything. If I feel even one speck under my little toes I get it out and run it rather than do the logical thing and get a broom and a dust pan.

I admits to not vacuuming my stairs once since it arrived. Maybe they'll come up with one that does stairs.

ducks4you- why don't you call customer service and tell them about it breaking?? they had a deal last month that for $89 you could send in your older models and upgrade to a newer one. Maybe they will still let you do that.

If you start reading the feedback on Amazon.com there has been some complaining, especially about the battery. There are two types the regular and the super duper. Most people say the regulars wear out after about a year. Anyway, I just got my Mom the 400 series something and the battery wore out after about a month. She called customer service and they are sending her a new one but it is the 500 series something model because of the inconvenience to her and paying shipping both ways. So it seems like the customer service is pretty good.

luvarabhorses - The Dirt Dog has now done my kitchen, dining room, and living room (which is spacious). It did a terrific job - only missed deep in the corners or places where it couldn't go. It went up from my hard floors onto the area rugs and cleaned them very well. There was quite of bit of hair and fine dirt, metal bits (from my beloved's shop), and so on in the dirt bin, plus more hair around the brushes. It kicked out a pen and a napkin that was under furniture! All this after I had vacuumed last night pretty well. Did not get stuck on the few cords that were on the floor.

The manual says the Dirt Dog is only for industrial type carpet, but I have medium pile area rugs and it did a very good job on them.

I see your point about getting rid of things for the DD - we don't have much furniture, but we tend to have "stuff" left on the floor. I picked all that stuff up before starting the DD, and it's going to have to stay that way.

The floor feels great under my bare feet now! I hate house-cleaning - love having a machine that doesn't need me to push it around to do work for me! I think I will be running it every day - one room after another.

Yes to all. My 560 has a little sweeper arm that reaches under everything. It is short enough to go under my end tables and it cruises under my cabinets along the kick board.

If you have long pet you will need to clean the brushes more often. I clean mine about every 2 weeks. My is sceduled to run every other day.

OK, it is going on the list!

I have a question (already thinking about upgrading). Does anyone have experience with the "pets" version of the 560? That's the high end one I almost bought, before I decided on the Dirt Dog. The one thing I see that could be a nuisance is cleaning the long hair from the brushes, which will probably have to be done pretty often in my case. Does the "560 pets" have an improvement on the hair handling technology?

OMG!!! I just read all 6 pages and I soooo want one now! you guys should work for the company and get paid. I have full time work and school, then add parrots, dogs and kids to that and I have no time to vaccum regularly. plus with this I could scare the kids into keeping the toys out of the floor, I would sooo be okay with a few toy casualities to prove a point. looks like this is on my list too. and I also like the idea of one mopping the floor, I just might get to sit for awhile and have coffee with the chickens.

I'm waiting for the XT-5000 that will also pick up all the kids toys on the floor along with the leftovers of their art projects and then fold the laundry scattered in the bedrooms.

Seriously though... if you have a tiny house with lots of stuff, how well does this thing work if it can only access 30% of the floor?

I'm more interested in the scoomba... was excited when they came out but have never heard anyone review them so I was reluctant.
Who has a scoomba and how is it?

My kids are worried that it will suck up thier toys, so all I have to do is tell them puckie (that's it's name) is coming out tonight and miraculusly the toys get picked up.

I also have a scooba...AWESOME. When I first got it I mopped the day before, then I just had to play with my new toy so I let it do it's job. When I emptied the dirty water bin...it was black! So I ran it again. I guess all this time my mop was just spreading the dirt not cleaning it. I love it. I turn it one before I leave the house (for a couple hours) and when I come home evrything is all clean and dry. I also run it when everone goes to bed...by morning, all beautiful! I love my robots!

I have seen the Roomba on TV commercials for years and thought to myself that there is NO WAY this thing can work, so I never even considered it. But now after reading all 6 pages of posts I think I am going to have to check this out… I have a Rottie, cat, mini Schnauzer, 2 kids and a husband all in the house. It would be LOVELY to have something clean up some of the dirt and hair they all track in.
