In need of help

Starting to think that my eggs won't hatch. Day 21 has come and gone. Still no pips or chirping. We will see what tomorrow brings.

If you're thermometer is out slightly, even that can affect the time it takes to hatch. It's not uncommon to have them go to Day 22. Did you make sure your thermometer was calibrated prior to starting?

It's incredibly painful to wait...lol. You could wake up in the morning and have a bunch of baby chicks.
I wouldn't worry just yet. You'll get there.

My best hatches happen when I'm away...

It's day 22 still no pips. Think I will pull them tomorrow and start a new batch, unless there's good news by morning.

If the eggs have been shifting on their own...Do not panic....I know your stressed out at this point.....Hatching eggs is like watching paint dry or waiting for Santa to come......lol

I have chicks due under my Broody Hen today......I have not looked yet......

Best wishes!

Cheers!

I just went hunting for this.

I stagger hatch and I'm in and out of my incubator because I manually turn my eggs. I know a person's not supposed to. It works for me.

I have candled eggs if I'm concerned...but there are risks! They may become shrink wrapped...and then you have to help them out. Or like me...you run the risk of dropping a perfectly viable egg. I posted that link to show that this person just hatched...thought the last 3 weren't going to hatch...and they're all fine. I believe 2 were day 22 and the last was day 23. I've had chicks hatch on day 24...the temps were just a bit too cool. It was my first hatch in the new incubator I made and it was a test hatch.

I don't think anything of day 22. I start to get concerned at day 23.

Coming to a close of day 22 and still no pips or peeps or chirps. I am trying to be optimistic but it's not looking good. It's taken all the strength I have to not open my hot box and candle them... I will give it till tomorrow night and pray that we get some pips over night

Well, that's not what I was hoping to hear. Darn.

I read back...you're humidity and temp sound good. With that humidity I wouldn't "think" that they'd be shrink wrapped.
Still hoping for good things.

If it is slightly cooler in the incubator which can happen during winter, eggs can take longer to hatch. I've read on this forum of chicks taking up to day 25 which is very rare but I've seen day 23 several times, so hang in there.
