In Search of Chick Hatcheries

Depends on where you are located, I normally like buying from a breeder or hatcheries closed by so not a long travel trip for chicks. Another thing to consider is what are your goals for having chicks? Eggs, Pets? Breeding, meat? Or all of the above?

Where I am, which is Ohio, Meyers Hatchery is pretty close, there’s also Mt. Healthy few hours away. Purely Poultry is an awesome business. Then there’s Hoover and McMurray hatcheries. On good breeder, I normally recommend Brinkhaven Acres (Ohio), they got outstanding stock but on a pricier side in comparison to hatcheries.

I have only ordered from McMurray and I HAD over a decade of good experience with them but that was ruined this year when they gave me a unwanted rooster and when 11 of my "sexed pullets" turned out to be roosters

I have not gotten birds from any other hatchery yet so I can not recommend from experience but @The Phantom has recommended My Pet chicken to me before, I am sure she will have good things to say about them and other suggestions for places to get chicks.

I have ordered from MPC and Meyer hatchery. No issues no extras. Lol. I also got 5 female bantam chicks from MPC and they were all hens. They all arrived on time and did not loose a single one.
