it NEVER ceases to amaze me how dogs and cats - two animals with COMPLETELY different 'play' behaviors - can communicate the difference between play and attack. At my house, they take turns being the prey and letting the other one 'maul' them. How does the cat know that having the dog mouth all over it is not a threat??? How does the dog know that right now the paws are harmless, but later they MUST be avoided???? Why do they do this???

Cause it's fun I guess.
