Incredibly painful heartburn. suggestions the rolaids are not working

Hmmm......Mine doesn't radiate to the back and it is not on one side or the other -- pretty much straight across the lower/middle chest. I vomit from the pain. It does remind me of labor. You get to that point near delivery where your body just wants you to puke due to the pain -- kinda the same.

One thing this thread has illustrated, different things work for different people. The only thing that absolutely works for me is Prilosec. Tagamet does nothing nor does rolaids or ACV, which I do take every day anyway. Happily I haven't had much trouble for a while now. I read somewhere that many ulcers and acid reflux problems were in truth caused by a bacteria. My acid reflux seemed to go away after a particularly strong round of antibiotics due to a stubborn abcessed tooth. It does return somewhat if I take something like Advil or eat too much grease, but a Prilosec will put me back on track quickly.
