What do you mean about what breeds? Silkies are AWESOME!! There are several people here on BYC that breed some really nice silkies. Check out the 24 hour just in time auction.

You can have good hatches with any breed if you know how to monitor their needs. I can give you the name of a wonderful seller/shipper of paint silkies split to black if you can't find any locally. My parent stock came from eggs of her original flock and she is an awesome packer. She's downstate NY, but has sent to friends in Wyoming and Georgia both that had just as awesome hatches as I had. See has a great rep as a seller/shipper.

I don't have an incubator, but I have a heat lamp, is it possible to use that? If not I guess I'll wait awhile and buy a good one.

You want an incubator. It's not just a matter of keeping temps correct, but humidity as well.

Yes, search the BYC forums - there is an entire thread on hatching TJ eggs... My TJ's doesn't have fertile eggs.

You can hatch refrigerated eggs. I would not expect as high of a hatch rate, but you can hatch them.
