Yes! You can hatch them if they have been refrigerated for a month. Cleaning them with oil won't hurt them

Idk if this makes sense, Leah . Are you sure about this information? I do clean many eggs before incubating them. But I use either the Brinsea cleaner or vinegar. My concern with oil is the potential for closing the pores in the shell.

Bought 12 button quail hatching eggs off eBay, 9/12! it was ok....BUT!!! All 9 were MALE!!!

I have hatched many eggs from the fridge (not freezer). It is a better option to trying to incubate the same aging eggs that weren't refrigerated .

I meant: better to refrigerate if it'll be a few weeks, than try to incubate eggs that are a few weeks old that haven't been refrigerated.

What type of flash light and I read that the bigger the air pocket is the older the egg. Is that a good thing or bad thing? How old can an egg be and still hatch?

My son tries to explain the strength of flashlights to me. I still don't get it when the numbers look like they should be stronger and aren't. So, this is my unskilled technique (since I don't carry eggs with me).

When I'm in a hardware store, I look at the LEDs. The flashlights can't heat up your hand when you use them, because they will heat the eggs. I put them to my hand/arm and try to see which gives the best visualization of my vessels. I found a great one for $30 recently. It has a magnet back, which I don't need.

I can see even in a dimly lit room.

I was wondering.


I want to hatch Ayams and Calls, and possibly will be ordering some off of Ebay(Yes, I know the risk)Would I be able to Incubate them togather(as long as I mark them)?

I have read people hatch chickens and ducks together. I was just wondering what humidity I would aim for.

It will be easy to see the difference. But I would suggest marking air cells to be sure they are growing well on both.

Actually, I wouldn't be able to hatch them togather in the same Incubator.Both have to be locked down at diffrent times.
