Incubating eggs...Anyone want to join me

How do you wire etc the wafer thermostats???? and how do they work?? Do they have a built in thermometer gage like the water heater thermostat?
I'm of course planning my next hatch LOL , my DH does NOT know this:lol:! I would like to try hatchig Lavender Orpingtons, they are pretty.

PS. Good luck with candling, my oldest son says that I developed OCD due to my constant eyeing the thermometer

Hi, hope I can join this thread. I am trying to hatch my very first batch of eggs. I put the eggs into the bator June 10. Hope it works. They are blue orpingtons and silver laced cochin bantams. Having some trouble keeping the humidity right. My mother, who has hatched eggs before for her 1st grade class, says she never worried about humidity. So, I'm hoping it's not a big deal. The humidity seems to want to stay at 40-45%. I can get it to 50% but then it doesn't stay there long. I have a sponge and extra container of water plus the built in reservoir. Any thoughts? I've read that the last 3 days it should be about 70%. Is this right? I don't know how I"m going to get it that high.

Wyogirl, I've heard that wafer thermostats are more accurate & the people that I got mine from will explain how to wire it up & how to set the temp.I got mine off ebay for $22 and $5 for shipping. But goodluck on your hatch.Keep up the good work. You Soon you will be having these guys

Muslw, your humidity is good for now but don't let it go to high. And on 18th day raise it to between 70 & 75 and you should be good by what all I been reading & videos I been watching.Goodluck on your hatch.

Wyogirl, The wafer is wired same as the water heater thermostat. But once you get it set right then you will never have to worry about it again unless you install it into another incubator. Here is number of the guy who sells them on ebay, He knows more about them then the rest of the people @ www.growerssolution.com & his name is Roger Fisk if you ever need any help with it. 1-931-528-3390.He is the guy who has helped me wire mine up.As of now my temp stands & holds @ 99.5 Which I hear is the right temp.I switched mine out during incubation and took me nomore than 5min. Hope this helps you out.Good Luck!!!

Since I've had this wafer thermostat I haven't had to check the temp like I was with the water heater thermostat. I'm very happy with it.

I'll soon be turning a dresser into a incubator. Just have to figure out how to make a egg turner but I have seen where a guy had hooked up a car antennea as a egg turner.
