Incubating eggs...Anyone want to join me

Hello: On 21st day I see the shell cracked on 1 egg and didn't think other 2 eggs were fertile. But other 2 eggs nothing is happening. So I guess I'm doing something right.Wyogirl my egg was just like yours all dark when I candled on day 18 and a air sack was all dark inside but the air pocket.Just brought humidity up to almost 70% and left it and now I see an opening in the egg where it has had some pecking going on from inside.I've read that it takes 4 hours for them to break out of the shell,If it's true I don't know but now I waiting on the little guy to pop his little head out anytime.I just hope he isn't dancing like this when he gets out

. Now I know done it right as long as they are fertile they will hatch. My humidity was in the 40% & 50% for the 1st 18 days then I raised it to almost 70%. This is me now

Muslw4: To your question about the incubator.Do like the rest of us beginners to. Get a styrofoam cool and build your own.Just remove hardware out of your incubator and install it into a styrofoam coller and try again. I built mine from scratch but did alot of research on how to build them. Go on youtube and search for (How to build an egg incubator). You can do it . I know anyone can do it if I can.I started out with a water heater thermostat and turned them by hand everyday but forgot to turn them an odd number of times everyday. Then I ordered a wafer thermostat off of ebay for about $27 including shipping. Now I got me a egg turner in today so I won't have to turn them by hand anymore and forget about turning them. 3 very important things you need to have right when you incubate eggs. Turn them an odd number of times per day,Have the heat between 95.5 & 100 degrees and last but not least Humidity. You can do it. Keep the faith. This is my first and now I think I'm good at it but I know I'm never good until the chicks hatch.

Good luck Lightfoot, start taking some antacids, as the next 21 days are gonna be stressful LOL. My oldest now thinks I have OCD, due to my constant checking of temps and humidity.

So all posts that I have read says (he or she) should be in the free world on the 21st day which is the 2nd. They say it takes up to 24 hours for a chick to break free & start his new life.I'm so Proud of myself.Grandkids are comming over to watch him hatch since it their first ever of watching a chick hatch from an egg even though they will probably never eat another chicken egg again in their life after watching it come to life.Yes I have explained to them that you need a rooster in order to have a baby chick. No I did not explain to them about the birds & the bees,

. That part is up to my daughter to explain that part to them. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY everyone.

Glad I bought a turner so I don't have to remember to turn them, in case I was to forget to turn them. Now there won't be no mistakes. Here is a picture of the little guy or girl.

and thank for the advice. I've been thinking of making my own bator. Just wondering how to do it. Luckily, this site has a lot of suggestions.
At least I have the little chickies I ordered through the mail. They are so cute and fun to watch.

Thank You everyone, Wyogirl even if you see no movement don't mean you have no chick. It just means that 90% of the time you have a little boy or girl and wake up with one of these

.Oh but was he jumping like this when he came out of egg? If so then he or she is only exercising.OMG my grandkids loved it when I woke them up to see him or her hatch..Keep up the good work everyone. If you atleast get one to hatch means your doing something hatch. Now for the feather sexing.I hope I have been doing my homework right.I've read if they are staggered in tips of wings means it's a girl and one long one means it's a boy.Wow I went to sleep at 6:30 this morning and the kids woke me up and 9am this morning. Now Tuesday I'll have to go get some more eggs to hatch from the feed store next door.$3 a dozen is a real good price for fertile eggs.Plus I got some fertile eggs of my own.I got some RIR & BR. Wyogirl congrats on your hatch.
