Incubating Muscovy Duck eggs

So sorry for the ones you lost. How do you know they're dead. I have one egg that I saw no movement in at all yesterday and It started moving very slowly this morning so I'm hoping it was in that phase where they sleep right before trying to pip. I check the other egg this morning and he's got a pretty good whole going and you can hear him make all kinds of noise and occasionally his little beak peaks through the hole. I'm hoping by this afternoon he'll be completely out.

They hadn't moved for 24 hours so I opened a hole and checked on them and two were gray on the inside and it looked like they had died the night before. Of the ones I assisted this morning. One was dead when I got back this afternoon. The other one is doing fine and absorbing it's yolk well. The third which was internally pipped has his head out and he is huge, but he is still absorbing some yolk as well both seem very active though. No other activity as of yet but everyone is moving in their eggs. The two that are hatched are cheeping away at the other eggs, but are still laying down. I have them wrapped in some napkin to keep the bottom half of egg moist while they are absorbing their yolk. I will check them later tonight and in the morning. If no one else has made progress by morning I will assist in the hatching as they will have been internally pipped for 36 hours at that point.

So cute the two that I have so far are yellow looking with no real other color unless it's on the half that's not out of the egg yet but one is huge and the other is smaller and they are both cheeping. I will take pictures once they are out of the eggs completely.

I now officially have two completely out of the shell. 4 that are internally pipped and breathing and cheeping well and one that is partway out of the shell but has brown goo like stuff still attached to his/her bottom with some blood vessels in it. So worried she is going to kick out of her shell and break the blood vessels and die. She was one of the original assists and has absorbed all her yolk now but has a brown gooey ick attached still. Doesn't look like yolk but doesn't look ready to be off yet. So 7 eggs are showing great signs one is just kind of sitting there. Haven't had movement since yesterday morning. Not sure if I lost it. We will have to wait and see.

3 out and 4 more well on their way. The first two are now upright and trying to walk around in the incubator. Not taking them out of there quite yet but they will be ready soon. The other 4 are about half way out and looking good, cheeping and ready to get going. Two of the three I assisted are two of the totally out. I removed the brown gooey gunk from one so that it wouldn't pull things out it's belly button since it was trying to walk with it. The other two are drying and almost ready to come out of the incubator but are walking around with their eyes open now. Looks like I might have had too much humidity since they are kind of goopy on the outside but they are hatching okay in spite of it.

Karen2818 any more hatched? I am still pulling for the one that is moving a little.

Now have 4 totally out of the egg and the first two that hatched are moving around better. The other three that are partway hatched are pushing out of the egg now but taking their time. They look darker color than the first three.

@subhanalah
