One of my Lav Orps had pasty butt for a while. She was my problem chick when she hatched. I gave her a bath, that was fun, I think she liked it. Lasted for a few weeks, now I notice her bum is messy again. Just her, so its odd. All the others are fine. Guess she's getting another bath this weekend, maybe trim some feathers. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like you are doing great. She will probably grow out of it soon. Trim the feathers, see if that stops catching the poo.

If one keeps getting pasty butt, I usually trim the feathers below it's little bum.  :)

I am one that doesn't keep chicks on the medicated food for long, especially if they have runny poo.  I find it is a problem in some of my hatched ones.  Not all of them, but some, and always the same chick feed.   I just start giving them reg. chick feed, and the runnies go away.

Wait! Runny poo can be the food!? So glad I joined this thread because some.of mine have been runny or large quantity of poo! I had one.die of.pasty butt a day shy of 1 week and.one the day or two after had a small piece of.poo stuck to it's bum but not pasty butt and it came off quickly and.otherwise healthy. All others have been healthy, even thriving. This has confused me because everything I've seen says runny poo means they are UNHEALTHY and I was worried they had some disease but again all act healthy. I had no idea it could be food. It is kind of bad food though anyway I think. Just Agway brand and, of course, medicated. The guy said people usually feed it until 8 weeks but I think ours is starter/grower and recommends 16 weeks. I want them to not get sick but I also don't want them to feel yuck. But they all fly and act healthy so maybe it doesn't affect them. But 6 more weeks seems like a long time (8 total, 2 weeks old now). Should I take them off it? I don't want them sick though. But so glad it could just be feed because I thought they were too warm and was worried haha

I'm making myself stop. Tell me to stop.

My dang quail lay about 3/4 eggs a day. I gathered up 15 over 7 days, and put them in the incubator Monday. Since then, every time they lay, I slip it in the incubator.

I'm stopping now. No more go in the incubator. I swear. Really.

This is bad. This is bad right? I'm stopping.
