Good morning
Same thing in my opinion. Although I usually skin pheasant. If you scald the bird beforehand plucking is just as easy.
Hey all
Hello JasonGood morning
Good deal. Now I just need to hope the kiddos haven't named the roos. Need to start encouraging them to only name hens I guess.
Hey all
Hi Chicken Hawk.
Good morning
Hello Jason
Thanks. Yeah, the searching is tough before you know... Sorry to hear about your BR.@Fire Ant Farm Sorry about Dotty. I feel your pain, I had a Barred Rock disappear today. So maddening. I was out there and never saw it heard anything odd except the pigs got excited a couple of times, but they do that. I searched, but saw nothing, but it was late when I got to head counts.
I know this shouldn't be funny, but it's funny, especially knowing that he's fine now!! But I have half a mind to name him "Puff, the Tragic Wagon" because of the big puff on his head and the way his wagon weighted him down so much his feet couldn't hold him up! (Note, the sound in the background is the exhaust fan in the kitchen...it's right behind the counter where I was taping. Sorry)

Blooie!Good to see you back! Thanks for the update - that's great news. Yeah, you have to be careful how many eggs you set - they may actually hatch and then you need to find room for them - that's what happened to me. i was convinced that only a few would make it. Dealing with some chicken math housing struggles as a result.![]()
Love the precious photos of your happy happy granddaughter!!!![]()
You're right, it shouldn't be funny, but it is. How long did it take this chick to start walking? I've had chicks hatch like that that I had to put down (though they had other things wrong as well and weren't going to make it).
Yup!
Great photo - looks like fun!!!!
OK, I'm caught up just in time to leave!![]()
See you guys on the flip side...![]()

All three of the ones I did yesterday were named. My son is told from day one that birds get eaten, named or not.

Daughter is still to young but I do try to accommodate my son if he's got a favorite. I think he's got one in the next batch but he knows mean roosters get ate regardless. He actually helped yesterday with them, he would catch them for me.Mine are starting to understand. They couldn't handle the pig last year but I think they will do better with the chickens. Sold the pig to a buddy so it wasn't a total loss.
