Well, looks like operation keet has failed. The broody hens love them, but the keets do not think of them as "momma" and will just wander away, despite the hen calling them over. Too old, maybe? Thank goodness I found them before the layers did.

Lol, I'm surprised the momma doesn't run after them, but I've never had a broody

Going out to open up the coop, then going back to bed for a couple hours; didn't sleep fast enough last night.

It was a pretty tense 5 minutes before I found them!

She stayed close, but the chick has to go under her first or else it will get cold. Momma won't run over and sit on them!

Quite pitiful, actually, seeing Hennypenny be SO happy she had a chick again, calling it over to food and everything, and the little thing just high tailing it out of there.

I might just have to break them now, as I'd like to follow through with these eggs and finish in this incubator, but can't give them more eggs as poor hennypenny has been sitting for well over two months now.
