Well I'm disappointed with my project roosters. The Dark Cornish beat by about 1/2 pound At least on the two I weighed. Not an average by any means but I did not expect that much difference especially since the DC is a week younger. I had to weigh them again as I thought the scale went wacky. DC actually looked smaller

Calling it a day for butchering at 5 roosters. 102 in the shade.

Gee, maybe broodies could hatch chicks in 17-18 days with this super-hot temp we have, if the hens felt like laying, that is.

Gosh speaking of broodies I'd better go check on mine. She'll set there in the sun till she roasts

Awe such a big helper she's getting to be.

Yesterday she got the trash can from the road, fed and watered, filled the baby pool, and collected eggs. She even dumped the dirty water from dishes. Watering thr garden was a bit much. She was tired of working, and wanted to water me instead.

I was about to say that I counted 13 girls by the back door, and was surprised to see more black hens than I thought I had. It just now dawned on me that one might have been a broody. The door was open for them to get more air, and she could have flown over the wall to get out.
I will find out soon. I doubt it is, but ya never know.
