What would y'all think about just doing a funny random post contest w/o a HAL? The threads created are totally priceless. I'm reading back through the past funny post threads and nearly busting ribs here...... And since all the prizes got awarded, they're all dead. I need my daily dose of funny!! LOL
Mike is going to start one soon @BantyChooks

That makes it look easier than it is especially if they have gotten off (no done enough). :frow

This thread has been so helpful!! I have hatched one egg without an incubator (using just a heat lamp and lots of prayers, lol), but this time I have an incubator. I am pretty excited! I have one egg right now that has started moving and chirping, but no pips, yet. I have the air sac marked, and it looked a bit low, so I upped the humidity some. Was kinda worried about making it too high sin e I have other eggs in there that look like they may hatch, but not as far along. But, this one is special as I have lost the hen that it came from...my EE.

Quote: I think that was before he trimmed it. He did the black parts and I watched him, but it's that soft round part toward the back. It makes them stand unevenly.

I built a temporary milk stand for the nanny so my neighbor could teach me to milk. Both whethers were up and down off of it over and over. They loved it! I have some concrete stands in their pen in the back, but I don't think they use them.
what I read is that they have a quick like dogs, if you begin to see pink stop, the quick will reseed a bit each week trim or grind again until you get the quick back and the hooves in line again @campingshaws I trimmed the babies pretty far back and didnt have any blood, I do have the hoof blood stop and hoof rot stuff on hand though

Yes we are doing one, that was the thought behind leaving the May HAL open to convert, but will just start new thread. Thanks

Since you mentioned that you were thinking about buying a Janoel I thought this was worth sharing. This incubator is a Janoel, not the knock off and it requires constant attention... While the Janoel display was reading 37.5 the internal temp jumped to almost 106 and killed off 90% of my eggs. Perhaps mine is an exception, but I sure don't trust it after that. the humidity display is broken now and reads 75-99 % even when there's no water in in.

I wasn't going to buy a Janoel. I was thinking of buying a large quantity of the Chinese knockoffs. You talked me out of it. I'm back to making my own.

I need a favor... can any of you read this and tell me what the per gallon dose of this powder is?

-Kathy

You need to mix the lb. package of powder in a gallon of water and then mix 1 oz. or 2 Tbsp of that solution in a gallon of water each day.

Another option would be to mix at a rate of 1 gram per 8.5 milliliters of water. That should get you close to a solution dose for a gallon of water.

Not sure what you mean, you have to make the gallon stock with the packet and a gallon of water and then add that stock 2TBL to a gal waterer for treatment. No???
My previous post is more of a survey... The correct answer requires that one really read it the directions, 'cause those that skim read, like I do, will probably get the wrong dose just like I did, lol.
