you cant get it to a better temp with a higher watt bulb? or moving the thermostat a hair closer? 98 is not good even for a few hours a day, But nuff said on that
I cant wait to see if you can get better with candling... oh I forgot to tell you, sometimes people say their cell phone can candle better than their flashlights can see in!

I replaced the battery and threw in a second gauge that does humidity and temp and that one says 100 nice and steady. I think the other was just wonky. My first doesn't seem to like odd numbers. It would go from 98 to 100 and not once show 99. My new one shows 100 steadily. Sooo.. I guess that one was just not very reliable.

I recandled 3-4 and saw development in them. One of the cream I saw the veins and a dark mass in the center with a dot. I think there is a baby chick in there for sure!

This was taken when it was a few hours old, dry but a little sticky!

Here they are, eating already!

There a light brown on top, there is one or two chicks lighter then the rest. (I hope lighter = rooster and not the other way around!)
I hope this "barnyard" mix turns out

Cute chicks. You could give the gel chick a wipe with a damp paper towel. It may help fluff it.

Those eggs must be related to the original Sheldon.

My dang quail lay about 3/4 eggs a day. I gathered up 15 over 7 days, and put them in the incubator Monday. Since then, every time they lay, I slip it in the incubator.

I'm stopping now. No more go in the incubator. I swear. Really.

This is bad. This is bad right? I'm stopping.

I would invest in a fan. I just ordered mine because I couldn't get mine to regulate on my last hatch. I ordered mine off amazon for $22 with shipping. I've spent 5 days trying to regulate my still air with no luck.

You should try eBay. I don't know anything about incubators but I'm sure somebody may have one. Or even Amazon may still have some or have secondhand ones from people. But maybe just any generic one would work

99.5 will work for chickens, but don't let it go any lower! Also, you could rig a computer fan up. We attached our to a phone charger for our Uglybator
