Halloween is a very old holiday, it used to be that people would dress up to scare off demons and ghouls
but of course now it is commercial

I look at it more as a fall celebration, though our town gets haunted and we still try to be very scary
friendly time for everyone to get together and enjoy some mulled cider and mulled wine

I don't think there is a real meaning other than fun for kids, now people older also use it as an excuse to dress up and have parties.
