It's a Tex Tan Imperial... Covered in butterflies, old, and weighs a ton but I LOVE it. Found it on eBay

thanks for noticing. I swear it seems like A LOT of horse people keep chickens as well.

No, I do not but this is a close up of one of the butterflies.

BEAUTIFUL saddle. And yeah I agree i think a lot of horse people are chicken people too. I don't own a horse but I would ride with a friend who owned two. My first was a palomino paint (he was white with blonde splotches, weird combo) named Apollo. Hers was an old ranch horse (pretty sure a chestnut American Quarter Horse) named Cowboy.

Well we lost one of our geunies
That is sad. :(
Well, here are the eggs that my friend sent me. Got them set tonight. I set one in with my others that I put on their sides, so I could put these in the turner. The one, is huge! Not sure if it will hatch or not..had to put it in this bator on it's side to see which end is up, not sure she had it right..so, will know in a few days. Then I can set it into the turner. She said to set them all, because she isn't sure that they are all fertile, but sure hoping those splash marans are!
Lovely eggs! Great saddle. :thumbsup

This is what it looks like with some eating eggs to show size and general scheme. I still have a little tweaking.
I must stop fiddling and go to sleep. Good night.

That is super cool!!!! Do you have to manually turn it or is it on a tuner that turns it slowly throughout the day?

That's a keeper for sure! Very unique tooling. I really like the buck stitching on those older ones. I have an old Simco that I wouldn't trade for any new one lol. It's heavy too but it's the most comfortable saddle I've ever owned :) fits my mare like a glove too!

I've been a horse owner my whole life and now in my second year of chickens and I'm clearly addicted already lol.

I'm a hatch along kind of guy

Well, Uglybators hydrometer is showing only 16%, so I added a small dish of water and will monitor to see how it goes. @Sally Sunshine or anybody else for that matter, did my air cells look a little big to you ? (day 6.5)

You told me to put the Serama in the Mini, which is the incubator that turns them sideways.

(example pic, not mine though!)
After candeling them on day 6, I took them out of the egg carton cups and put them in the turner slots. Still have not turned it on though.

The others are in Uglybator- in eggcartons still.
show them day 7 are you turning them in it?

Well everyone here In our house has fever and runny noses so I am heading to bed. Bleh! Will check on chickens tomorrow.

So I set the eggs!!! Its holding steady at 99.5 and 29% humidity. Although the humidity may change because the incubator is outside....but it's in my garage. So hopefully everything hold steady.

I looked closely at the close-up of the butterfly & I'm pretty sure I saw a flaw in the background, which would up the value of the saddle 'cause it's hand-tooled.
