Confession is good for the soul, "they say". Besides, it's sometimes easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.Yes, the female mind... quite amazing huh?But I can't hide things from my husband so this morning, after my post, I confessed to him about putting in those eggs... Lol...![]()
Good. Enjoy your Savannah! Do me a favor, and eat some real oranges for me this season.Lazy...the temp are stable in the garage....only time really affected if it gets really cold but other than that not really. It's savannah in the fall.....we are still sitting pretty at 70+ degrees.
I lost 2 to Northern Goshawks this season. Vicious nasty creatures. We just lis one of our chickens to a chicken hawk.It ripped the head clean of the poor thing. My dad is out there with the shotgun ready for it to come back to get it.
Excellent advice, and I really, really do agree with you. But, I console myself in my candling addiction with the knowledge that I can candle without picking them up out of the bator some times, and I only do one a day, so I spread out the "touching" issue between every member of the clutch.I am a firm believer in the more you mess with eggs, the more you mess with chicks,
Scan the threads and see how many people have dropped an egg while candling, And then see how many have killed 3 or more by dropping onto other eggs - i am guilty. Add that to the possibility of increasing the chance of the introduction of bacteria and....
I prefer to candle on day 10 for viability - and pull the clears, then on day 18 for incubation failures.
If you will change your incubation plan based on more frequent candling, then go for it. If not, go plant a garden, make a quilt or design an android app for 3 more days.
