Here is a picture of how I calibrated my thermometer. I put the thermometer inside a zip bag (all air sucked out) and then stuck that inside the bag of ice water. You can't tell in the picture, but the water was actually starting to turn "slushy" with ice crystals. My final readout was 32.2F for this thermometer. only .2 off. Yay. I used this thermometer to calibrate my others, as it's portable and my others are not easily calibrated. yay!
I performed the ice water test on my IncuTherm Plus by placing the probe in a latex examination glove (inside the longest finger) and submerged it in a styrofoam cup with crushed ice and just enough water to barely coat the ice. I got exactly the same readout... 32.2F. Since I can't do the same thing with the probe on the incubator, since the heater has to be running for the display to work, I'll just calibrate it to match the IncuTherm.

Sally, that was a beautiful video. Life coming into the world.
So sad right now, have been crying off and on all morning as I lost a friend last night. She was in church at an activity, went to sit down out in the foyer, and had a heart attack. Life, we never know. She was only 60. Going to be hard in church today. But will be there for sure, need to be there.

On a brighter note! I can't believe my little eggs go into lock down tomorrow night, officially Tues. but will have them set how I want them tomorrow night, and work on getting that humidity up on Tues. Then wait. I'm so happy that I have chicks coming soon.

Losing a close friend is tough; been there myself. Take heart in the knowledge that she's in a better place.

Cally and Gloria. Cally was asleep and looked like she was melting off her bed like a Dali clock, but woke up when I took the pic.
Britta took on a darker look when she dried. Not so blue now. Chub looking.

So sorry for the loss of your friend. At least she was in a place where she was loved when she had that heart attack. And, yes... you are right. None of us are guaranteed a tomorrow. So, let's do the best we can with this day that God has blessed us with.

3. Movement - I NEED HELP WITH THIS AIR CELL!!!
It's quite wobbly, like it's unattached, but only on one side???? One half is very normal, the other takes a SEVERE dip when tilted, goes down almost half the egg. If I keep it directly upright, it does not dip very bad. HEEEEEELP!!! These pictures are all of the same egg (#3) HOW SHOULD I BE TURNING/RESTING THIS EGG? It was laying on it's side in the turner, should I put it back upright in the egg carton cup?? I need advice from you super experienced people! This is my most vigorous chick and I only have 2 for this breed!

I keep hearing it, and thinking "where in the world is that coming from?" Only to go "Duh, they're on day 19, they've probably got internal pips now". And when I go cheep back at them, they are silent :(
