I've found my chickens will eat broccoli, some kale-looking weed I find in the garden often, nettle (in small doses), timothy grass, regular grass, spinach, sprouted mung beans, Queen Anne's Lace greens, carrot greens, onion greens, beet greens, celery leaves, and basically any scraps I send down from the kitchen that aren't citrus or potatoes or tomato greens.
My project for the spring will be to plant mint, sage, tarragon, and thyme in the run area enclosed in a cage so the birds can nibble it without damaging the roots and maybe setting up a small fodder area with microgreens covered with chickenwire.
Oh cool beans! One of these days I need to go through those and write out notes, I'm thinking when I begin hatching I'll keep a notebook with hatching 101 notes, notes and photos of aircells, which breeds, etc.
