dang!!Sorry I have to leave just as you come on, but I've got a few things to wrap up since it's finally dry enough to do it. I'll be back as soon as possible. I'll be missing you in the meantime...![]()

sweet! I set yesterday too! so pretty!! I set dirty eggs this time, not washing them! its been so muddy here and I wanted to try dirty eggs anyways, so time will tell!
So my dream of filling my bator with dark brown eggs and olive green eggs just went down the tube. My big investment this summer produced all roos![]()
Nope my friend and have been looking forever locally finally found one gal and of the 6 chicks we got 5 are for sure roos.uggg so it will fill your freezer so not at total loss. Have you found somewhere to get more?
Venymae!Ok I skipped a lot.
Desert, my brinsea is nice, but here are my issues with it. It always takes some fiddling to get all the eggs to turn. There is always one or two that don't want to turn at first. The temperature Gage does need to be calibrated. Mine was 1.5° off. Luckily when I bought it on Amazon there was an option to add an AvianWeb hydrometer thermometer for an extra dollar. I calibrated this and used it to calibrate the brinsea. the last issue I had was one of my larger eggs could not kick out out of his shell when hatching because there was not enough room. I did leave them in the Turner this time so maybe if I had taken it out and put the shelf liner in it would have been better? Who knows
Linda- the sticky chicks and small air cells were with my last hatch. this time I had a great results with no stuck chicks and no assist. woot! 4 / 5 hatched that were fertile.
I got food poisoning really bad last night and I'm still sick this morning. So I might pop on and off between naps but I am in a lot of pain and have a fever. Hopefully my mom decides to come over and help with the kids, because my spouse was up all last night with me and the crying baby. Ciao everybody.
Yeah Sally!
Chicks are very quiet with the heat plate... that's for sure. They love it, and I love it! I may have to purchase a larger heat plate or two in the spring when my operation expands. At least that's the plan.
The cave shouldn't be too much trouble for me to keep clean. I had some spare pieces of vinyl flooring, and I cut a piece a little larger than the heat pad and zip tied it over the pad on the ends, then used Gorilla Tape along the edges to seal them off and keep the vinyl from moving. Not likely it would, but the tape also covered the jagged ends where I cut the welded wire and construction cloth. Anything that's waterproof should work for a cover. The original plan I saw for the HPC used a towel covered with Peel-n-stick plastic, but I thought it was a little too thin. Sharp claws would have it torn to shreds once the chicks started scratching it. I think it'll take a long time for them to scratch through heavy vinyl flooring!
this looks so good, I want to eat something so bad...Good morning to you all! EYS!
