Hope it rained out some more before it got to you .We're on the back side now still some rain and very cloudy also colder . not that strange for Tn. I've seen it a lot stranger . this one sat just west of the big river longer than I wanted it to . not that bad lot of wind and rain wind being the worst 40 mile an hour gusts.
The storm is mostly over now, it's still warm and raining though.

It's very warm here too, Who would guess it's almost december?!

@chicken hawk 33 , Good luck with your hatch!

Raining cats and dogs for the past two days. Been too wet to get coop work done, though I had the husband pull the pallets into the warehouse so they're dry. Tomorrow begins breakdown of the pallets and possible cutting if we have the time and the weather permits.

Lucky baby. Happy for it..and you. Fluff~!

Got the generator back up about 10 hrs after our went down. I slept with a chick most of the night. My husband said I'm a better hen than him, I guess cleavage gives an upper hand as far as warmth for chicks. Dunno about the eggs, they got down to 65 before the generator was fixed, about 5 min before loading then into the car. A total of 5 trees were down on the property. 3 that are leaning pretty bad, will be coming down next wind storm. I know why our power is out up here: in one stretch of road within 1 mile there were 4 trees in the power lines, and then on one of the highways there was a half mile stretch where all powerlines were down on the ground. Fun times...

Yikes! Sorry to hear that, I hope at least some of the eggs will make it!

I guess I would do almost a step up system with towels so they could navigate up there. I hadn't thought ask the way through. Only on day 3 here!

Forget what I said earlier about the birds getting over the edge; I was thinking we were talking about a pan with a heating element in it, not a heated base for a pan to sit on. You'd still have to fashion a way for the little guys to get up to the water, and have a pan shallow enough that they couldn't fall in and drown, but it should be doable. A better idea may be a heated plate to set the water pan on. I'll try to locate the link a guy gave me earlier about one.
