If you check out the link in post #2534, you'll find a heated pad that might work for you, depending on what it's made of. The description doesn't say what it's made of, but if it's hard plastic or rubber, something that spilled water won't hurt, it may be a solution for you.

I hope you get chicks, Sally!

The storm is starting to reach here. It's raining out now.
oh crap! be safe Peep!!

Got the generator back up about 10 hrs after our went down. I slept with a chick most of the night. My husband said I'm a better hen than him, I guess cleavage gives an upper hand as far as warmth for chicks. Dunno about the eggs, they got down to 65 before the generator was fixed, about 5 min before loading then into the car. A total of 5 trees were down on the property. 3 that are leaning pretty bad, will be coming down next wind storm. I know why our power is out up here: in one stretch of road within 1 mile there were 4 trees in the power lines, and then on one of the highways there was a half mile stretch where all powerlines were down on the ground. Fun times...
cleavage sure is, but get more than a few chicks your pretty much up the crick without a paddle

on a serious note..... keep the faith and keep warm!

Hope you stay safe as well!
It's also on our doorstep in this part of Ohio.
:-(
be safe also!

Wow, all you guys going into lockdown make me sooooo jealous!!!

a question, what's the max number of eggs you have gotten under a bantam hen?? I'm gonna try and see if I can't get Jacey to go broody next spring, but she's the tiniest thing ever...... and I doubt any of my black sex links are gonna go broody. :(

I like your new avy!!! I always wondered too, I always threw eggs under and what didnt fit took back.

hens are of all shapes and sizes I guess. just like human hens

And on top of that, Someone just told me they found a local guy selling silkie eggs.... uh oh. First time hatcher last week and now IM HOOKED.
line and sinker eh!!!

That's exactly what happened to me. I wanted silkies too but then I discovered that Ameraucanas come in a silkie feathered variety and they aren't mixed. Now I'm planning on getting some of those eggs.

Just wanted you to know "Nancy" is doing much better now. She is the chick found zipped in the hen's nest but the hen got back on the wrong one.

Did you notice if there was a star in the East?
'Tis the season, after all.
