I have two thermometers but not a hygrometer
As mentioned, a hygrometer is as important as having thermometers. The correct humidity during incubation and hatching is very, very important. Correct humidity allows the air cell to grow at the proper rate. Too dry, and the air cell grows too fast and the chick doesn't have the room it needs. Too humid, and the air cell doesn't grow fast enough. If there isn't enough humidity, the chick can stick to the membrane and not be able to move around when it's time to hatch. If there is too much humidity, the chick can drown when it pips through the air cell. A hygrometer is the easiest way to know how much humidity is in the incubator. Another way to check humidity is with a calibrated wet bulb thermometer. You can make your own (instructions on the internet), but the thermometer you use, and the dry one used in the incubator, must be calibrated correctly. I hope your chicks make it through the hatch okay...I have two thermometers but not a hygrometer

The tip of the funnel does get really warm, but when I candle this way I only touch the shell over the air cell... I have a box I put the light in too, but it candles from the bottom that way and most prefer to see the pics candled from top...![]()
