I feel that humidity is too high, especially since I incubated tons of legbar eggs over the past three years. my reasoning is all in the links..... I start off around 30-35 and see what it takes me to day 7 candle.... again read ..... I wish you the best! and you have calibrated thermo/hygros correct? I also run temps at 100.5 there is a temp section at the bottom link too

HUMIDITY Humidity is NOT a set number!
Its a tool to get the correct weight loss in the egg!

WHY do we need less humidity to get the best weight loss for colored hatching eggs during incubation? post #36320

DETACHED AIR CELLS & LOOSE/Saddle AIR CELLS how to incubate? post #34107
Thanks! Now that you say that, I do remember you saying that about colored eggs (like I said - need to re-read! SO much to retain and understand!). I will weigh/look at the air cells, and reduce as indicated. I am a little worried that the humidity wasn't as high as I'd like when storing them before setting (about 50-55%), so wonder if they lost weight then. Does the fact that they are medium sized (larger surface area) mitigate that at all? Regardless, I will let the air cells guide me, and yes, READ READ READ.

I didn't calibrate. Now, before you all throw your shoes at me, all the documentation that came with this incubator said that it comes calibrated and multiple dire warnings not to try to recalibrate it yourself. So, given that I had all of about 12 hours between incubator arriving and needing to set the eggs, and had nothing to calibrate with anyhow, I decided to take the chance to go with these settings (realizing there is a slim but real risk of it being off). I figure I will take detailed notes (air cell and timing of hatch) and adjust from there with subsequent hatches (and future calibration) - at which time, perhaps you can say "I told you so" and throw your shoes at me then...

I'm off to read some more...

The absolute best candler you can get is an overhead projector cheap from a yard sale. Laugh all you want but it's the honest to God's truth.

I've gotten lazy and if I candle, I use the LED app on my iPhone 6 Plus. Except for BCM's, they get the projector.

K what do you mean NO!!!

I'm sick, aren't I?

We moved the incubator into my room my the next batch, and probably every batch after, the temps are SO much more steady in my room than they were in the kitchen, but the incubator lulls me to sleep now, I don't know what we'er gonna do when we're NOT hatching eggs now! I might have to sleep in the living room when babies are hatching though, depends on how loud the chicks are.

Please tell me it isn't garbage! I can't see spending the $200 for a 7 egg capacity or $350 for 20. The voice in my head says that I can build my own, but I just can't deal with learning how at this time.

It is either buy or beg @Auroradream26 to build me a coolerbator.

@HenHoneyGirl Once upon a time (2007 or 8) I fell asleep in the truck (18 wheeler) while in Colorado in the winter. Thermal underwear, sweatshirt and pants. Thermal socks. It was early when we took off, and I was freezing!! A few hours later my DH calls, "bathroom break!" I woke having to go like crazy! He was already out. I pulled on my boots, coat, hat and gloves. I dove for the door, got out backwards and stepped into powdery white ... SAND! We were in Arizona, and it was 117* that day. I had fallen asleep so fast that I didn't know we had been traveling for hours. DH has the AC cranked up so high that I was cold from that! The other truckers thought I was insane as I got out, and my eyes focused. I took off the coat and stuff, but it was a warm walk to the bathroom, let me tell you!!
Moral of the story, I don't have a moral. It was just something to share!
Oh no... I couldn't be happier with my bator!!! I was asking because S5apiotrowski posted about having an incubator from Incubator Warehouse... which is where I got mine.

I generally don't have a moral, either...

Easy solution... get a hatcher!!! Put it in another room, fill the bator every 18 days, and you're good to go!!! Oh... and you're welcome!!!
