I would love winter a lot more if we actually had a winter. It's 60 or 70 degrees one day, then it's below freezing the next day!!! Not the nice, dry freezing like up north... it's a cold, damp freezing that chills you to the bone. And snow? Good luck with that one. We might get a light blanket once every 5-10 years, and in 3 days time it's a melted, muddy mess. Snow-covered mountains feel much better than it feels down here in the winter...
This is how winter goes here in MS: last night's low was 21, the high today was 41 with a low tonight of 21. As of right now, it's 33... with 75% humidity! Tomorrow's high is 53, and Moday it will will be 60. That's why I don't like winter...ick.![]()

Mom did touch on the subject of maybe getting another incubator... especially since we're getting ducks, it might be harder to hatch the amount of birds we need when we're hatching chickens, turkeys AND ducks.
I haven't yet, I don't think she would go for it though. You really don't want to be hatching birds here in the summer anyway, it's hard to keep the chicks cool and the eggs start incubating out in the boxes as soon as they're laid, just a lot of variables and stress for the chickens that it's just not really worth it. I'll just have to live without it until October.
I wish! however It's hard to get away with stuff like that when your mom is the teacher.![]()
YUCK! Store bought eggs are gross, when I was at cooking class this week, I cracked the eggs and of course they were store bought, I grimaced and stepped away and everyone asked me what was wrong and I said "has anyone one seen a egg laid by a healthy, happy chicken? because it's NOT that!!"![]()
Cant stand eatin those junky store eggs, they are so flavorless!![]()
