If I am careful, I still might be able to set them tonight.... But only if the probe gets warm and I get settled on whether to run 101 or 100.

Just picked up my blue/golden phoenix eggs I bought. First time getting shipped eggs

So questions for everyone.

How long should I wait to put them in the incubator?

When should I put the autoturner on?

Do they stay at the same temp as all eggs incubating and if so what temp do you think?

Mark the air cells first

Let's say the turner turns left to right
Make sure the "dips" if it has any saddles, are facing so that when the eggs turn, it doesn't "roll" that aircell.
I'm not at home or id get ya pichers.

Mine are usually in the coop before dark; more like late dusk. My prefab coop has a roost in it, but the birds have never used it; I think it's too cramped up there, due to the design of the roofline. prefer to sleep on the floor.

I got home late one night to feed still time but they were already starting to roost. When I open door to feed one was missing. Argh then I heard rustling in the rafters. She had flown up to roost in the rafters completely ignoring the roost I built for them. . Now they all roost there.

Do you run a light as well? I was concerned for country lovin's timing on the lights. Seemed to me just turning lights out at 8:30 without notice to the hens might mess with them

I run lights and it helps a good bit
Got a few old layers that "don't lay anymore" for free ,and they started lay within a few weeks

Check your sunup/down charts and I like to give light before sunup

So this helps not disturb their "bedtime"
Or when they go to roost

I know, I am having no problems with it... YET.
I did, but I was told otherwise on my thread and I was told I should leave some room so a temp spike would not kill them since I am using a styro.
I am using a probe to see what the internal temp of an egg would be, (aiming for 99.8 but it dont count decimals) but I won't put too much stock in it as it is an old probe and I don't know if I did it right....

Common sense would tell me that being styrofoam would have nothing to do with temp spikes, unless the lid didn't fit properly ( take notice I didn't say anything about it being on backward

). I'd rather think temp spikes would be more a problem with a faulty stat, & you've addressed that problem already. Of course I could be wrong; it's happened once before.
