It's been aggravating. Those could be big sellers, but I hate tying my incubator up for that long with a 50% hatch rate. Like I said, though, my last two were 75 and 80%. I'm also wondering if it's not a flock issue. I bought them before I learned enough, and they are bred badly. There are a bunch of threads on BYC about how tough BCM are to hatch, so I feel like 75% or better is an achievement
You ever tried hatching them under a broody?

More pips! We have more pips!

So of the 10 eggs in lockdown we have 1 currently zipping, and 5 others pipped! Sitting on my hands... sitting on my hands... luckily I'm tired today so once i drop the kid off at school I'll just go lay back down LOL.

Haha, I was gonna say what Saris said...

Yeah right, you'll be hovering over that bator with a huge cup of coffee! Hahaha

x2!

That's what I'd do!

There are now 5 black chicks and 3 lighter colored chicks. The last 2 eggs are pipped.

Cuties!

Help, she isn't on her. Eggs again.

She been off for hours

I think your broody isn't very broody...

So I learned a huge lesson on incubating eggs today. Secure the spot you put your incubator... Yesterday was football Sunday in our house.. This means a whole lot of people especially those under the three foot variety.. I hand turned my eggs yesterday as usual, but really didn't pay attention to temperature and stuff because I was too busy running around cooking and hosting a house full. At one point in the evening one of the kids, not mine, but a visiting child had covered my bater. I found it when I went to turn the eggs. Took it off and off I went... This morning when I got up to check the eggs, I had noticed the high temperature of the day that was recorded was 106, but they were 100 this morning.. Im guessing they got that hot while the kids were messing with it. I candled one egg and still saw movement. I didn't candle the rest because I am on day 16 and in two days I will do a complete candling and recording of air sac. Anyway, lesson learned. We will see what happens...
