INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

Went to check on them and they seemed cold, I put two towels over the cat carrier. It's 46 out there now so I'm going to get my heating pad and put it out there for them, anyone see any issues with that or should it be ok?

I think they will PROBABLY be fine. But, it's different for every chick.

True, I didn't mean to sound like I could guarantee they would be fine! And since they've been inside since babies, it might be more risky, but they should be old enough that it shouldn't bother them.

Yeah don't worry...no such thing as guarantees in chicken survival lol...anyway they should be fine but I'm protecting my investment and checking them into hrs and will go from there

I agree with you. They might need more time to adjust, also. Adding the heating pad will help them until they get used to it.

Ok...I've gotten really behind. I'm currently on page 185 out of 207. I'm just going to update without catching up. Y'all are way ahead of me. I had 10 babies hatch out of 41 set. All eggs were shipped. The babies are doing great, they are 8 to 10 days old. I currently have 4 eggs in 1 incubator and 6 in another. Those eggs are orpingtons and sussex. I have blue cochin eggs on their way. Yep, I'm hooked

Yeah, that makes me feel great about a $400 incubator and a 75% hatch rate

I now have $2700 worth of incubators (if I'd bought them new), think there is much pressure there?

Wow... if you're hooked after the low hatch rate on those shipped eggs, I can't imagine how bad off you would be if you'd had 41 "fresh" eggs! OMG... they would have to put you in rehab after OD'ing on chicks!!! It's okay though... there are a lot worse addictions out there. Welcome to the Hatchaholic's Club!!!

I am REALLY hoping someone responds to my Craigslist, Facebook, or Michigan Farm Classifieds listings wanting chicks so I can fire up the incubators with a good excuse!
