It's possible that being without heat for 5 hours at a time when the chicks are starting to move into hatching position could have had some bearing on the malpositions. I don't think stopping the turning before day 18 would have any effect on position... in fact, I'm going to be turning my eggs more often on the next batch. I just read an interesting article where the hatchery was turning the eggs over 100 times a day. Talk about giving the chicks a workout! LOL!!!Yes I am. The gal I received the brahmas and spangled orps had the best hatch of all the ones I ordered. Her eggs came all the way from Florida. I think part of the problem was when we had that big wind storm. The eggs were without power for over 5 hours and I had to drive them to my parents. That happened on lockdown day. I had a number of them malpositioned when I opened the eggs, wonder if I should stop turning earlier than day 18? Thoughts??
