I love that pullets coloring.
She is very pretty. I just don't have any other Ameraucanas and if Saris wants to raise them I figured she would be a good hen to have. Saris and I live close to each other.

just dont get too much weight loss, what happens with serama is they get into a position with the head stuck just under the wing and it cant turn JUST ENough to pip, almost but not enough it needs for the internal, so you have to be careful with serama. and shipped is even harder, because if you cant get that chlormembrane to close on the bottom, then you have less room in there at the end. 55% and then up at day 16 or 17 depending on air cells you may have to go higher. Now if only my serama hatch will go that well![]()

The Barred Owls around here had better bring bolt cutters with them if the attempt to get any of my chickens. I keep my birds penned in welded wire runs...sides and tops. Too many foxes, raccoon, opossum, coyotes, hawks and owls for me to risk free-ranging them. I just make sure the runs are adequately sized and feed them lots of greens. They appear to be healthy, happy, and content.
Its good she takes care of her own chicks. Congradulations on the puppies! How many did there end up being? It sucks she passed out, but hopefully there will be another litter soon.she is awesome, they are her babies anyways, she just did a check of them before putting in the brooder, she said they all look good, one has just a bit of a spot of umbilical but she said it is fine, lol. she put the provits in the water, and dipped beaks, everything I do, she did to the T! I watched her do it without saying a thing. She wants to be a vet, did I mention that? she helps with pups too, its a shame she passed out on this litter, she was very upset about it too.
Thanks you for the information. We were camping up north a few years ago and a severe storm blew through. We heard a weird, haunting sound and tracked it to a big aspen tree. A Great Horned Owl was perched in the lowest crotch of the tree, making a weird call. After a bit we heard an answering cry, and found a baby owl cold, wet, and on the ground at the base of the tree. While we worked on trying to figure out a way to get an owl chick 30 feet up a 60 foot tree, we brought it near the campfire to warm up in a box.
Unfortunately it passed soon after...the fall likely killed it. It was a downy baby, no feathers at all.
