Awesome! Good luck on the hatch.

What day are you on VW? Sally - enjoy your drive - any excuse for a road trip for me. Hope you get some nice eggs!
Me too! I am sure, she is a doll! she is another BYC sweetheart I met on a HAL actually! she is the one that gave the polish eggs on the HALLOWEEN HAL as a matter of fact! Her kids are sweet too, she just had another baby too! so it would be cool to go see the baby and the kids.

As long as it's the right species.

Is it torture if you pull their legs off?

I use one of those little quart water bottles with the "moat" screwed on, then upgrade to the gallon size. Start with marbles in the water. Have some saddle nipples that I have yet to trial. Wishing I hadn't bought them.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but have heard that very young chicks are not strong enough to activate the nipples on those. Let's hear some feed back from others about that?! I'll be setting up some of those on a cat litter bucket for my winter waterer.

Is this your dtr who has 1 month of sobriety now? I wasn't exactly clear who you are talking about. But, huge congrats to her, and to you too. It's hard being a support system without enabling. Hope she is able to continue her path back to good health.

The serama chick that I hatched was able to peck it and get water out from the first day on. you just have to make sure they can reach it. i don't know about the horizontal ones but the vertical ones need very little movement on the acual nipple itself. the chick isn't dehydrated. I don't have a problem with it and when you put them outside with the nipple it is harder for them to learn how to use it

Shhhhh do you hear that?? That is the sound of peace and quiet for the next five hours.... And mamma gets to catch up on chores today!!!! Woooohooooo

are you nuts??? if you do all your chores first thing in the morning or last thing at night they get done quicker and leaves you with more time to do the things you want to do.....

take the quiet time for YOU time lord knows mothers need to take that time!!!

Take it from an AWARD winning MOTHER of TWO SETS of children!!! oh wait I have already lost my sanity..... nevermind

Howdy!
My Halloween hatchers, Puppy and Kitten, have decided they're big enough to wander all over the coop and barn and yard. Brave little buggers.
I really want to set some eggs. I also really want my cockerels to start wooing the hens. They crow but still hide from the hens.

Ok, Silkies out of the hatcher and headed for the brooder. The box they are in is just holding and moving, it is not the brooder. 26 for 28 on these.
