Never incubated before. How did I do on equipment. $50 got me

2 little giant still air with rotating trays. One needs a little tlc, but I am sure I can get it to work fine.
1 rusted out water and 1 useable water
1 Water heat pan
And the coolest candler ever!
Not too shabby to start with. As you get further into it, you'll probably want to tweak things a bit, like installing fans in the LG's to eliminate hot & cold spots. First thing you'll want & need to do is go back to the very beginning of this thread & read everything in Hatching 101; it'll answer a raft of questions for you. Beyond that, don't be afraid to pop in & ask further questions as you have them; we're always here to help. Welcome aboard our runaway train.

Would it be easier to block off the duckpen or to try and find something to fix the wall with? I would think that the ducklings need some time to learn the ins and outs of everything. From running to safety when told to, to not pecking Jojo.

But pecking Jojo is hysterical! :lau. I also think that they have enough of a bond with the ducks today. When JoJo was quacking about something, the ducklings did respond to him by running to him.
If I give them the duck pen, they will have to stay confined. It will be easier in that I won't have to shoo them anywhere. It will be harder in that the adults will have to sleep with the chickens. Honestly, I may just take down the wall. If no one is bothering them, there is no point in trying to keep them "safe". They will also be able to get a relationship with the adult ducks sooner.

Pecking Jojo is like goosing the dog.......hysterical but ill advised

If you see them already responding to the other birds calling and you don't mind trying to herd toddlers than you probably could just throw everybody in the same pot.

Going to re-assemble the coop I just built & improvise a temporary "run" for little guys so I can start cooking some eggs; can't get daughters to breed to the BCM unless I do. I can fashion a more permanent run while eggs are incubating and the resulting chicks are growing.
