They look like rabbits. .......
They do not!!! They eat rabbits
You think it is somthing infectious ? Or some incubating problems?
Shalom, Benny!
I don't know. My first thought was it might be an infection, but I don't know where it would come from. It had some dried umbilical stuck to it's navel, but after giving it a bath I realized it was only stuck to the fluff. It's navel looks fine. I can't rule out incubation problems, but I don't think that caused it either. All of the chicks have been doing great, until this chick started acting strange 2 days ago. It seems to be doing much better since I posted about it. It's been chirping like crazy, and I just watched it drinking, so it may be getting better. I didn't feel an impacted crop, but it may have had something hung in it's throat. I haven't heard it make this much noise since I put it in isolation, so I think that is a good sign.

I hope they all do fine!! sorry about that littleyolker
Thanks, Sally.![]()
I didn't expect littleyolker to make it, but was really surprised when I lost Balut. It was very actively running around like a normal chick, eating, drinking, and pooping like the rest of them... and 3 hours later it was dead. Survival of the fittest, I guess...
I lost one of the baby muscovys.![]()

So? Raccoons eat chickens and there are some people thst eat them!![]()
Likely no shell - just membrane. If it was just once, that's not a concern. The one I got was partially transparent (and white, I have no white layers) . Could it have been a no shell?
-Banti
If the eggs are always like that, she has likely had infectious bronchitis. Several respiratory diseases cause damage to the shell gland.Yeah. I have one EE that lays slightly misshapen and brittle eggs, I suspect it was her. She gets the same feed as the rest.
-Banti
I've never seen one without a membrane.Mine was nothing. No shell or membrane, i have also had soft-shells where it is just the membrane
No. If it is consistent, it is something else at this age.Still? All my hens are 1 year old.
-Banti
I must have missed that.I offended someone
Same here. No need to sugar coat it. Some people need a dose of sugar with the truth - or won't accept the truth at all. I don't get it.Bah, don't worry about it. I'm good at upsetting people with my non-politically correct straight to the point and truthful statements. I'm good at it and don't bat an eye.
Drive on........
I grill the raccoons and feed them back to the chickens. So? Raccoons eat chickens and there are some people thst eat them!![]()
Shells get thinner as they age but no shell at all will be caused by influenza or egg drop syndrome caused by an adenovirus. It can be contracted from contact with infected waterfowl. Do you still have her?Im sorry CH! I hate it when I loose Chicks!
Yes, Your air cell looks TINY For day 13... I would get rid of any water in the room, And If you live in a humid location, Possibly Get a dehumidifier
Thats a big one!

You shouldn't have to do anything. The chicks should be able to hop right out and hop back in.Anyone online? My broody will be technically in lockdown tomorrow. I have her in a cat litter box. How important is it to turn it upside down tonight.(so the chicks could actually go out) The chicks won't be able to get out the way it's set up now. How does it work with a broody hatch? The chicks hatch out and just hang out until the hatch is over? So I can just leave the box as is until the official hatch is over, then flip the box so they can follow mom off the nest?
I'd probably eat a rural raccoon. But I wouldn't eat one of these. I know they spend part of their time dumpster diving....
Yeah but not many that eat raccoon but I'd try it if it was offered...
I firgure anything over 100 is only fit for personal consumption. Toast should have the same kind of marking as Waffles. So I'll have three blacks and three lavenders. How big you want them before delivery?only100?
